The Value of NAU’s Alumni
National American University (NAU) is proud of the personal and professional successes of our graduates. We believe that all of our alumni – from NAU, National College, National College of Business, and National School of Business – make a difference in the world.
Alumni have the potential to be – and many are – NAU’s best ambassadors.
“I owe so much to NAU for my career success.” Patricia Brown, MMHA, CPMSM, CPCS, ’15, Master’s in Management, Emphasis in Health Care Administration (Distance-Graduate).
Yet, we realize that a degree alone and the status of “alumni” does not mean automatic “NAU pride.” We have to earn it by building relationships that begin when students first select NAU for their higher education, and continue through graduation and into desired careers.
Guy Tillett, who worked at NAU for nearly 50 years and handled alumni relations for his last 15 years, summed it up like this, “Our job is not just to enroll students in our classes, and helping them graduate is not the end of our job. These are only preliminary steps in helping them become employed and achieving success in their communities.”
NAU works hard to provide a quality education in a caring and supportive environment, while also providing career services along the way. With each class taken, our students are preparing for a career and life after NAU.
“NAU has been an important part of my career building journey.” Michelle Schock, MM, MBA, BSHCM, AASMA, ’14 A.A.S. Medical Assisting; B.S. in Healthcare Management; Master’s in Business and Management (Independence, MO).
Upon graduation, NAU works to maintain a relationship with our alumni community through regular communications and, importantly, by providing opportunities for our alumni to connect with each other.
NAU Connect (nauconnect.com), the newest alumni benefit, makes this possible. Already, a high percentage of NAU Connect participants have indicated a willingness to serve as professional mentors to fellow alumni and students. This willingness makes us proud and signals strong “NAU Pride” among alumni who have enjoyed career success and are now willing to “pay it forward,” by lending their support to the university’s mission and overall purpose, career development.
“My NAU education has helped me achieve all that I have today and what I will reach for in the future.” ~ Helen Pujols, B.S. Intentional Business, ’09, Master’s in Human Resources Management and Services, ’11 (Independence, MO)
