RAPID CITY, SOUTH DAKOTA The National American University Foundation recently awarded Academic Excellence Scholarships to seventy (70) National American University (NAU) students.

Our scholarship recipients are so deserving,” said Tamie Hopp, NAU’s Director of Alumni and Foundation Services. “All have maintained at least a cumulative 3.66 grade point average (GPA) and many are doing so while working and supporting their families. They are inspirations.”

A commitment to paying it forward is a common theme among scholarship recipients.

I am currently majoring in Business Administration with an Emphasis in Human Resource Management with hopes of achieving my Bachelors Degree and providing the best possible life for my son, said Breein Balistreri, a scholarship recipient. I promise you I will work very hard and eventually give something back to others. I hope one day I will be able to help students achieve their goals just as you have helped me.

I pride myself on helping others which is why I choose occupational therapy as my career pathway, said Hannah Johnson, a scholarship recipient attending NAU-Colorado Springs. I strongly desire to work with children as a pediatric occupational therapy assistant once I have completed my degree.

Founded in 1967, the nonprofit NAU Foundation has long provided scholarships for students who are excelling academically. Since 2011, the Foundation has committed more than a half-million dollars for student scholarships. Scholarship amounts range from $1,200 for undergraduate scholarship recipients to $1,800 for NAU doctoral scholarship recipients.

“Academic Excellence Scholarships both reward and inspire academic excellence,” said Jim Olson, President of the NAU Foundation. “All of our recipients demonstrate great potential as leaders in their future careers and communities.”

The NAU Foundation scholarships are sponsored, in part, by several corporate, individual, and alumni donors. To see all scholarship recipients and donors, visit naufoundation.org/scholarships.
