AU-ABC Program
National American University is proud to partner with the Air University to provide regionally accredited, military-friendly civilian higher education opportunities to Air Force and Space Force enlisted members. All courses are offered online so students can further their education at their convenience from anywhere in the world.
AU-ABC Program Overview
The Air University Associate-to-Baccalaureate Cooperative (AU-ABC) program is an initiative between Air University and civilian higher education institutions to link airmen who have completed associate degrees to “military friendly” baccalaureate programs via online learning. The AU-ABC program aligns with the Air Force and Space Force vision and meets the Air University’s near-term goal of providing enhanced educational opportunities for our enlisted force.
Key program features:
- Students can maximize the application of military career education and training and build on a Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) degree.
- Airmen and Guardians with an AAS degree from CCAF can earn a career-related (AF-relevant) bachelor’s degree by completing an additional 90 quarter credit hours (equivalent to 60 semester hours).
- National American University (NAU) delivers courses in an online and blended learning environment to include in-person offerings, participation via video, and the online platform Desire2Learn (D2L.) Student services are provided through personnel, programs, and procedures and cover a wide range of academic advising, financial aid advising, Inclusive Access course materials, tutoring services, the online library and Ask-A-Librarian email and text reference service, course navigation, technical support, and additional services.
AU-ABC Bachelor’s Degree Program Plans
NAU’s online degree programs are designed to help you gain practical knowledge and develop high-demand skills to help you advance your career. Classes total no more than 90 credits. All academic courses are 100% online.

GEM Program
National American University is proud to be selected to participate in the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) GEM program. Through our partnership, Airmen and Guardians can complete CCAF’s general education requirements online at NAU, at your convenience, from anywhere in the world.
GEM Program Overview
The General Education Mobile (GEM) program is designed to provide education opportunities for active Airmen and Guardians of the United States Air Force and Space Force, Air Force Reserve, or Air National Guard pursuing an associate degree from the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF).
Through the GEM program, NAU students may use the online courses listed below to satisfy up to 15 semester credits of general education requirement for an Associate in Applied Science degree at the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF). Students must complete one course from at least one of the general education areas, depending on the requirements remaining to complete their CCAF degree.
Airmen and Guardians can complete NAU’s online classes at their convenience from anywhere in the world. Courses start monthly and are offered on a four-quarter calendar schedule. These quarters are 11 weeks in length. Tutoring is available through the online classroom portal.
